Note that some MacBook Pro models have electrical issues (Apple defect), and do not work reliabily with ExpressCards, see the MacBook Pro compatibility list on the OWC site. Sadly, Apple eliminated the ExpressCard/34 slot on the current 13" and 15" models, and users of those models will have to be content with Firewire 800, which is also covered in this report. This report analyzes with eSATA performance (external SATA) via several add-on cards that fit the ExpressCard/34 slot on the 17" MacBook Pro and certain other earlier-generation models. ![]() ![]() Other users will have to be content with Firewire 800, or go the ultra high performance dual internal drive route as with an MPG Pro Laptop.
